Historic School Tour (Caldwell Rosenwald School)

The Caldwell Rosenwald School is in Huntersville, North Carolina and is a perfect example of a typical four room Rosenwald School. Many Rosenwald Schools featured large windows due to their placement in typically rural areas. Because of their location, many of these schools were not connected to power or water, so by incorporating large windows, the schools could provide natural light for the students to learn in. The Caldwell Rosenwald School features these large windows prominently.

We believe this to be a 4 room floor plan, which was one of many pre-designed floor plans available as part of the Rosenwald School Project. Currently the Caldwell Rosenwald School is privately owned and used for commercial purposes. It is surrounded by residential homes with a new home community being built across the road. As new communities come into the Charlotte Mecklenburg area, many of our historic buildings are at risk.
