Wadesboro, NC: Here We Come!
Join Murph and I (Kyle) as we embark on the first journey of our YouTube career where we travel to Anson County, North Carolina to walk the streets of Wadesboro with our tour guide Steve Bailey of the Anson County Historic Society! During our visit to this historic North Carolina town, Steve gave us some background on the community and some of its notable residents and history.
Many don’t know this, but parts of the film The Color Purple (1985) were filmed right here in Anson County! Steve told us about the scene filmed on the courthouse steps while he and Murph sad on those very steps! Murph even took the time to reenact one of his most memorable scenes as he ran up the steps to the courthouse just like Mister did in the movie.
A Warm Reception
We visited Uptown Coffee, a small business owned by 25 year old Corey Lowery where I ordered the best coffee I’ve ever had. After that, we sat down with author Irene Hailey Harrington who told us all about the books she wrote about Dr. Patton, a local teacher who made a huge impact on their community.
It was truly a heartwarming experience meeting all these people and hearing their stories. We were told that many in the community got together and enjoyed watching the video we put together, which is a humbling thing to be told.
A Solid Start
Our first trip to film in a new town was such an incredible experience. Both Murph and I are chomping at the bit to get out and film more content. We’re actively churning up some new ideas of what we can film to put out there for you all! Stay tuned!
