1 Hour With LEGENDARY Musician Samuel Waymon (Nina Simone's Brother)

This truly incredible opportunity was entirely unexpected. We were in Tryon, NC to tour the birthplace and childhood home of singer, songwriter, civil rights activist Nina Simone. Nina made a monumental impact on the music scene and led a life on tour playing across the world. We were really excited just to see her childhood home.

But then we had a surprise visitor show up. Nina's brother Samuel Waymon, who is an equally talented, successful musician, songwriter, and activist in his own right.

Samuel proceeded to spend the day with us telling us about his life with is his sister and critical events that shaped who he is today. Having lived a life full of music and being an activist, Samuel offered an incredible amount if wisdom which we hold close to our hearts.

During his life, Samuel marched with Martin Luther King JR, even singing at his funeral. Samuel played with some of music's greatest musicians such as Miles Davis, Max Roach, Phyllis Hyman and so many more as well as being an integral part of his sister Nina's writing, albums, and touring.

To say this was an honor would be an understatement. We're fortunate to call Samuel a friend.
